Canned Food Drive with SOUP!

The Annual Canned Food Drive will take place from Oct. 31st to Nov. 4th It is all about the pounds! Which class can donate the most cans of food in a week? All proceeds will be donated to Harvest Hope Food Bank. For more information about their amazing distribution, needs and how to make a donation check out the website at:http://www.harvesthope.org

Bring your donations to Room 134 and drop in the box for your class. Daily the donations will be weighed and tally announced on the SBA social media outlets.

If hauling in bags of cans is not your thing, feel free to make a monetary donation to help fight food insecurity in our town.  You can go old school and write a check to: Harvest Hope Food Bank and drop it by the Pro Bono Office or go to their website, donate and make sure you notify the Canned Food Drive Coordinator Michael Lindsay: mgl1@email.sc.edu

But what about the SOUP? TO kick off our amazing generosity we will have fun on Monday, Oct. 31st from 12_30-2 in the Perrin Lobby with “Hunger is NOT a Crock(po).  For just $5 you can taste as many soups as you want. Seeking Chefs or just plain cooks who have a crockpot and a recipe!  You can represent your class, a group of friends or enemies or just yourself All crockpots welcome. We need to plan for enough table space and extension cords. Need a crockpot, we have extra so no excuses.

Soup Update

The aroma therapy from 16 different soups was enticing on Nov. 3rd. And many of you were enticed and donated over $850 to Harvest Hope Food Bank.

Does not sound like a great recipe but a perfect grocery list for Harvest Hope Food Bank.

With just one more day left in the Fall Best Class Food Drive, you still have time to feed those in need by bringing your donation to Room 134.

Our donations will help fill Disaster Relief boxes and supply backpacks with a weekend of  food for middle school students!

 

and don’t forget to enter your name in the Daily Drawing.  Shawn Hunter entered and won two tickets to the Faculty ( we need to change that name to Public Interest) Auction! He is already planning on enjoying the event and helping out in other ways.  Will you be the next winner? Two free tickets to the Barrister’s Ball could be yours.  The final drawing will be on Friday and features lunch with Dean Wilcox, you choose the place; he pays!

A big thanks for Professor Stoughton’s class. They just could not face tuna but were excited about their donation of 1,350 lbs. of peanut butter!

Did you hear?  We made $378 from sales of cups of soup at “Hunger is NOT a CrockPot”?  The 19 soups were delicious, varied and heart-warming.

Calling all Crockpot Chefs

Do you love to cook?  How do you feel about the comfort of soup?  Willing to share your cooking talents with your classmates?  Willing to share for a good cause?

YES, then you are just the kind of chef we need to enter a crockpot of soup into the Annual Hunger is NOT a (Crock) Pot competition/fundraiser.
